Best Health Blog
for daily and not so daily titbits and news and musings.

Hello

Can you believe it.. December already! And so it's time to think about that fun time of the year - gift giving. We have put together a bunch of ideas for you to help in the choosing. (See below)

And of course it's the time for possible over-indulgence!  Too much food, drink and goodies! So we have also offered some basic but useful advice for keeping on track even through the minefield of Christmas.

And through all the madness, don't forget to have fun, leave the blues behind, and use this time to re-connect with your family and your friends.  And most important of all, spare some time for yourself for that essential re-connection to "you". Take a break, a walk in the park and some time out with the beach or nature in some form.  It is the best gift you can give to yourself.

With greetings and good
wishes to you all

Christmas Injuries - hangovers and the like!

A report on the BBC says that over indulgence will cause over 2 million people to take time off work in the UK alone. At a cost of UK110m!

We call them Christmas Injuries - people come to us after the break time, mostly with digestive disorders, and suffering from over indulgence of all sorts.  So what's our recommendation to get through it all without too much stress on the poor body?

1. Make sure you drink enough clean water. At least one glass per glass of alcohol. Make sure you don't start to drink on an empty stomach!

2. Eat in moderation - and take some good quality digestive enzymes to help digest that extra heavy food.

3. Vitamin B's taken before and after any excess of alcohol will help you come out the other side with a happy face.

4. Take some exercise - get some fresh air and a good dip in the ocean if possible will help the cobwebs away.

5. Most of all ENJOY!!

For a great holiday read we highly recommend anything by Robin Hobb.  All our family have devoured her books - they are fantasy with a strong message - designed to transport you to other realms and keep you intrigued and glued to the page till long after midnight!  Make sure you read them in order. Start with the Assassin's Apprentice.
