Hello %%FNAMEFriend%%
The new website is up!
After much fine tooth combing and long telephone calls with our designer the
website has been born, just like the chicks below. We would really appreciate
some feedback of all sorts so please
pop in, stay awhile and
share some of your thoughts. We hope
you will enjoy.
Remember those eggs - well here they are! The parents worked like crazy
- in the beginning they were all beak and before we knew it they were on the
perch!

Actually the morning they left the nest we have to say we were totally upset as
we thought the cat had got them! But then there they were, huddled on the
perch looking quite precarious!
Have a great week.
Best wishes to you all

A Wonderful Experience:
Early in August I was privileged to
participate in the Garma Festival in north-east Arnhem Land. The Festival is organised by the Yothu Yindi Foundation and is a celebration
of the Yolngu cultural inheritance. Garma means "both ways learning" and this
year the forum was on indigenous health and how to create real solutions for a
chronic problem. Given the current political climate this was indeed timely and
many wonderful speakers shared their knowledge, their stories and their love. It
was a far cry from most of the political bantering we have been subjected to of
late.
One of the most telling statements I heard was:
"Who loves their
children more? As far as we are concerned little children are sacred and who
better to care for our own than the aboriginal people, ourselves?"
Part of my time while at the festival site was
spent with the
women healers in their Healing Centre
which they are setting up
as a place of
traditional healing
& respite.

I
asked Gulumbu Yunupingu,
the senior healer
if
Best Health could
be a sister centre. The answer was YES! and so we are now proud to be
so and are contributing a monthly donation to assist them in their valuable
work.
For more information please see:

Please consider donating to be a founding
member. I can only say that this will go far in making real change for the
better.

Recipe: Quick n' Hearty Hummus
An almond hummus! Very Yummy.
1 cup of almonds (soak overnight or for at least 4 hours.)
2 tablespoons tahini (sesame seed paste)
2 cloves garlic
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 rounded tsp cumin powder
2 level tsp coriander
3 lemons freshly squeezed
Enough purified water to ix to the perfect consistency (apporx 3/4 cup or a
little more but don't make it too thin)
Put all the ingredients into a blender and blend with a little water to start
and add more as you are blending. Turn the mixture over in the blender as it
goes to help it blend throughout. The mixture needs to be smooth. Add enough
water for the almonds to whip well.
You can add a handful of parsley or coriander to make a lovely green hummus that
has a yummy fresh flavour.
Note: Coriander is also a great heavy metal detoxifier - so use lashings of
it whenever you can.
