December 07
Hello
Christmas is galloping towards us!! and hooray for the warming of the weather - time for outdoors, barbeques, salads,
juices, beach and all of those other great things we associate with the lengthening of the days. Summer time is definitely the time for socialising and getting back
into the body after hibernating all winter!
Mark Twain said “Twenty years from now
you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you
did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the
trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
And in just 2 weeks that is just
what I (Shazar) will be doing.. heading off to Antarctica. I am so excited! I
promise to take lots of pics and write lots.. so I can share it with you when I
am back. Will most certainly keep you posted!
Since this will most likely be our last newsletter for this year we would
like to take this time to thank each one of you for our association during the
year and to wish you all heartfelt joy and peace within.
Have a great week.
Happy Christmas to you all Sahaja & Shazar
On another note, lots of information has been coming across our desk in the
past days relating to sleep disorders so we thought we would share some of that
with you.
Sleep evading you?
Missing a few hours of sleep can have a profound effect on you especially if it
continues over time. A good 7-8 hours sleep per night boosts your immunity and
helps to
make you smarter as it is the time when our brains process new information.
You need that sleep for great concentration - if you don't get it you are more
likely to be irritable, make more mistakes and react slower. Short term sleep
deprivation studies have shown a variety of adverse effects including high blood
pressure, impairment of sugar metabolism, and increased inflammation.
Approximately 3-10% of the population are known to use pharmaceutical medication
to help them sleep.
There are many contributing factors to sleep disturbance with anxiety and
depression often being accompanying factors.
Ways to manage stress and sleep disturbance:
Relaxation techniques: Take time out to get involved in structured relaxation
techniques. We attend Tai Chi classes and find this to be a wonderful tool for
stress release. Meditation tapes can be useful, yoga, Qigong, turning off the TV
at least an hour before sleep time and reading uplifting material. Try the tales
of Paul Coehlo - or Deepak Chopra, or Clif Sanderson's book "Knowing Nothing
Living Happy" available here.
Don't drink caffeinated drinks after 4pm - even if you think that you are not
affected by coffee and can drink it before bedtime - try it and see. Watch
out for MSG which can be a trigger for wakefulness - it is 621 and is prevalent
in so many processed foods. Read labels!
A good quality protein drink just before bed can be very helpful - PharmaFoods
Isowhey is very good and available
here.
Sunlight stimulates the production of melatonin which is the hormone responsible
for normal sleep patterns so to restore your circadian rhythms take early
morning walks with the sun on your face. Take off those dark glasses so your
pineal / pituitary gland is stimulated.
And of course a targeted
kinesiology session would be of great use to those who are within range of Sahaja's talents in that field. To book

Great News for people wanting to live and work in clean air:
The best gift to yourself of all this Christmas could be clean air in your
home and or office - our friends at HealthStart (makers of the great Compact
Juicer) have finally brought in their promised Air Purifier. It looks
great and the statistics
of its use are excellent. We will be ordering our first stock in today so you can come and see
it in operation. If breathing ionised clean air every day in your
office or home is of importance to you this can be the answer.
Ionised air - cleaned of dust mites, airborne bacteria, pollens and other
airborne allergens, will help anyone who suffers from respiratory problems,
sinusitis, or simply would like have the benefit of breathing negative ions
(just like that sea breeze air) to keep you wide awake, bright, and breathing freely.
This helps to keep those levels of good brain activity up all day in the office
and will also assist a sound and deep sleep at night.
See more about it
here.

Education:
Next year we plan to compile information
packages to assist you if you are told by your doctor that you may need to
go on medication for conditions such as blood pressure, high cholesterol,
migraine etc.
These will give you the tools to aid you to request possible alternatives
when faced with drugs which have continuing side effects. These packs will
be continually updated with cutting edge research such as heard on the
ABC news
last Monday regarding the new test for the risk of heart disease based on
the level of Omega 3 in the blood as opposed to levels of cholesterol.
We trust they will be of use to those in these situations. Please
contact us if you would like more information.
Last but not least.. have a wonderful Christmas and we would like to
invite all good things to shower on you in the coming year.. health, love,
light, happiness, joy, peace, abundance, and a deep abiding sense of balance
and harmony.
